The Residences at Pacific go to Planning Board Monday Oct 5. WE HAVE THE FULL PROJECT PLANS (Video)

The Residences at Pacific development team will be presenting to the Wildwood Planning Board on Monday Oct 5th, 6pm… to review their retail and residence project. It will take the location where The Fairview, 2nd St Annies, and MT Bottles buildings are currently located. We have the plans!! Before the meeting! The provided video gives a a full rundown!

The project will include 3 ground level retail/restaurant spaces, three floors of residences (student?) and a swimming pool!

Student Summer Housing

The video clocks in at under 13 minutes… yeah I like to share a story or too along the way. If you don’t have time to watch it.

The core unique distinction for this project is, it is targeted for the summer student workers that are needed in Wildwood each year, to keep the tourist attractions, restaurants and shops going. Over the decades Wildwood has lost a lot of the old larger “boarding” style houses that were used for these workers, as well as countless motels.. that today it’s becoming more challenging to house the workers. A goal of this plan is to offer high quality housing for the workers, which will also act as a draw to the students deciding on summer work options…with a new and beautiful building!

How serious of a concern is this? I forgot to mention in the video, but if you noticed not all of the Morey’s pier attractions were open this year (although they did an awesome job getting most of them open!)… For many businesses that didn’t open, or even closed early.. the challenge wasn’t necessarily managing the risks of COVID, but having enough workers in town to do the work! And a big portion of those workers were international students who because of Covid could not get into the US. My point of this analogy is… we already have felt the impacts of what happens when there aren’t enough workers in town, and if the summer housing situation suffers, then Wildwood could be left with not enough workers even when the world is healthy!

In the video we review the full project plan proposal including 3D renderings. We are the only Wildwood blog that has this!

Keeping it short here on the web page. All the details are in the video below!
